Build the Next Level of Leadership

You are engaging your people in learning how your business operates and where it is going because business people build businesses.  While you are doing so, you can also be developing your next level of leadership.

Everyone knows of the rapidly changing employment landscape and the need to address the fact that available jobs are expected to out number available workers by 2011.  Leadership training for all up and comers is also increasingly recognized as an urgent need.

The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.  Jack Welch said “leadership is not about dictating, it’s about empowering employees so they recognize their ability to take action.  And highlight it when they do.  That’s how leaders build leaders”.  This idea is not revolutionary, Dale Carnegie has been teaching this for 96 years.  Yet we still need to hear Jack Welch say it.  How come?  It’s probably not natural to be a leader?  To give praise or to empower.  We continually see that people intellectually understand what Jack is saying but in practice, few develop the habits of leading the way Jack Welch or Dale Carnegie tells us to lead.

Last year 34 of the CEOs of fortune 500 companies came through the ranks at GE.  How’s that for walking the talk?  We’ve discovered in our behavior based coaching and training that few believe they can be that type of leader.  They either practice self importance or passivity or leave little room for Jack’s style of leadership.  If you think your supervisors have heard it all before and have been told how to lead but don’t give us a call.  If you have been to seminars and still don’t involve or engage their people, then we should talk.  There is a real gap between knowing and doing.  Real life is and reality is usually on behalf of your business strategy and is missing.  We excel at getting your future leaders to see what’s going on with them in reality.  To chart out a new plan around what’s required to lead in your business and to accept and profit from person centered sincere coaching to get there.

To bring out the best in leaders we engage all in practicing real solid classic principles in real time on the job experiences.  We give feedback, and coach in a person centered way with a qualified Dale Carnegie Coach.  Through this process they can see improved results and their successes prove to them they way to go for the future.  From Lee Iaccoca to Warren Buffet we’ve impacted behaviors.  In contrast to knowledge dumps or inspirational sessions and talks.

The Battle for Top Talent

The battle for top talent is heating up.  How do you keep your best?  According to a new poll conducted by Robert Half Technology a California based research firm 63%  of CIO’s said they were providing additional professional development training opportunities to retain their best people, while 47% are offering flexible schedules and 41% are increasing base compensations.

The CFIB in Canada says finding and keeping talent is the number one business issue.  They too say “train them or loose them”.  We suggest that.  It’s less costly to train them than any other solution and a lot less costly than losing your potential leaders.

Looking forward to supporting your initiatives.
