Build Capacity and Competence

The most inexpensive and best way to increase your company’s capacity is to build your people. Increase your capacity by 25 - 40%.  Handle your increased workload to support your business strategy and hit stretch goals without adding significant cost.

Here are some typical scenarios:

1. Sometimes it feels like the whole organization appears to be unable to execute new initiatives and get things done day to day.

2. Everyone from the CEO to the front line staff operate from distinctly different communication models.  Often, it is left up to each individual’s  interpretation of what’s best for the organization. Theoretically, this sounds good, but what’s required is a well-designed, unified approach with clear communication in today’s competitive and cluttered business environment.

3. Even with training, is everyone competent at what is required? If training is not on behalf of the business strategy, it often works well for the individual but does little for the new business model. Leaving readiness and competency development up to each individual’s beliefs and interpretations is too risky for today’s requirements.

Once executives are comfortable communicating current reality, they often say their organizations don’t have the capacity it takes to achieve strategies, initiatives, and higher goals.

To ensure effective execution of business initiatives, people require training, mentoring, and coaching that develop the competencies needed to handle accelerated changes.

Some organizations believe sending people to generic one-day seminars and/or personal development courses is adequate. Participants many times say they are “too busy” to take time out to learn. Even worse, they often perceive there is something wrong with them if they require training.  Participants who do advance their skills often return to a structure that chips away at their confidence and they tend to drift back to “old” ways.

The organization sometimes blames the training by saying, “training doesn’t last” or “people resist change”.  How tragic is this! These assumptions fail to take into account the underlying design that dooms the poor person or team to fail in the first place. Too many current business structures, designs, and cultures sabotage an individual’s possibility of success. Some of the highest potential, future leaders leave in frustration, creating an even greater leadership gap.
For effective training to work, what is required is a clear, direct connection to the business strategy and initiatives that pull people towards desired outcomes.  Participants need to clearly see their role in achieving top-of-mind initiatives and develop the competencies required.  It also helps when trainees clearly see where they need coaching and demonstrate a willingness to respond to it.

Take a moment to reflect on your organization. What do you see?

Do your current learning and development initiatives improve readiness and produce immediate business results?

Growth Plan

Training and coaching is on behalf of your initiatives plan.  Each individual develops their own growth plan. Management and HR can see the plan so they can support. Direction becomes clear, and the training becomes more useful.

Choose to change

All Dale Carnegie® services include a four step engagement process.  The most important element is people choosing to embrace change.

  • Progress is measured in visible behavior changes and business results.  A 12 month web based reinforcement ensures sustainability.
  • Business follow up is available to review how the business works, the participants role, how they are going to implement initiatives, and what competencies are required.
  • Business coaches are on the ground locally across Canada.  Recently one of Canada’s largest companies had a Carnegie program simultaneously   launched in 12 Canadian centers all at the same time.  They needed the capacity to quickly build their teams to implement a business initiative.
  • The most important competencies include leadership, communications, sales, service, team, presentations, being focused and organized execution and management and coaching skills.  Although these are generic soft titles they still rank as fundamental to getting things done.
  • After a business advancement conversation which lasts 90 minutes with a small group of your people, the most important individual personal development needs will be matched with what is required by the business.  (this service alone is worth doing)
  • Send a team of 7 to a Business Alliance, represented six or seven companies.  All being coached to advance their organization’s initiatives within 90 days and to be better leaders.
  • We promise a 3 to 1 ROI for your training dollar. At our last Leadership Training for Managers program, the group produced three million in cost reduction and revenues generated for their companies.
